AOP’s IC that exposes a command mode on the same wire. Not compared to any other maker’s IC; the sheet names none.

Refresh & flicker

24 bit per pixel in G, R, B order, MSB first. The sheet adds an ‘advance function mode’ in which the MCU starts with a specific command: it can read back the number of cascaded LEDs and the maximum sink current of R/G/B, set the current gain in 32 levels (5 bits) and choose the PWM refresh rate (1.5 / 2.5 / 5 / 10 kHz). The command format is not printed. Supply 3.3 V min / 5 V typ / 5.5 V max, 12 mA per channel, DIN high 2.7 V min, low 1.0 V max.

Dating evidence

Evidence, not a release date. A library commit proves the part existed by that date and says nothing about how long before.
