WLED does NOT support this part: its TYPE_GS8608 is a different chipset,
and the only mention of GS8208 in WLED’s history is a readme redesign. An
earlier version of this catalogue recorded that commit as first library
support, which was wrong - a mention is not support.
A 12 V single-wire part with a backup data line, positioned against the WS2815. Seeded for coverage; documentation is scarce - see DATA-QUALITY.md.

Clones & compatibility
“Compatible” is never stated bare here — each relationship carries how strong the claim is, and what bites if you assume too much.

electrically similar
WS2815
Both are 12 V single-wire parts with a backup data line, and both are driven with WS2812-family timings, but they are different silicon with different specifications.

Parts using this protocol
No package is catalogued for this protocol yet — it is seeded for family completeness, or it is a driver IC that drives external LEDs rather than shipping as an integrated package.
Dating evidence
Evidence, not a release date. A library commit proves the part existed by that date and says nothing about how long before.
