An RGBW driver IC with a distinctive quirk: it expects a current-limit configuration frame ahead of the pixel data, so it cannot be driven by a plain WS2812-style routine even though the bit timings look similar.

Needs a current-setting preamble before pixel data, which is why generic WS2812 drivers do not work with it.

Parts using this protocol

No package is catalogued for this protocol yet — it is seeded for family completeness, or it is a driver IC that drives external LEDs rather than shipping as an integrated package.

Dating evidence

Evidence, not a release date. A library commit proves the part existed by that date and says nothing about how long before.
