A WorldSemi WS2812 variant that, on every datasheet seen, behaves like the WS2812B-V5 and differs in packaging: it is the one stocked in 1.3 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.7 x 2.4 mm, 3.7 x 3.5 mm and 4020 packages, and “WS2812E-V5” in 5050. Earlier versions of this catalogue could not say whether it had 4 or 6 pins or how it related to the WS2812C; the datasheets settle the first (four pins everywhere) and show the electrical windows are identical to the C and the B-V5, with the drive current (12.5 mA against the C’s 5 mA) the practical difference.

Clones & compatibility

“Compatible” is never stated bare here — each relationship carries how strong the claim is, and what bites if you assume too much.

  • protocol compatible WS2812B-V5

Identical datasheet timing windows, pin count (4) and supply range. Independent measurement has not been done; E and B differ in IC drive current (12-12.5 mA) and packages (the E exists in 1313, 2020, 2427, 3535-class MINI and 4020). source ↗

Evidence, not a release date. A library commit proves the part existed by that date and says nothing about how long before.
