The driver inside Meihua’s 1.5 x 1.5 mm “IC RGB” PLCC. Meihua calls it only “IC”; the part-number infix ICRGB is the maker’s. The sheet says the IC is “easy to be compatible” (features list) but not with what.

Datasheets disagree with themselves: the electrical table header says VDD 3.0 to 5.5 V while the chip supply row says 3.5 to 5.5 V, and the pin table says 5 V +/-10 percent; the data-transfer heading says “TH+TL = 1.25 us +/- 600 ns” while the rows add to 1.2 us.

Refresh & flicker

PWM 1 kHz at IOUT 5 mA (page 11). Quiescent current 0.35 mA at 4.5 V; input high at least 2.8 V and low at most 1.6 V at VDD 5 V; output drive 12 mA per colour at VDS 1.0 V with a 0.6 V knee; DOUT source and sink 35 mA; DIN to DOUT delay 67 ns / 93 ns typical (page 10-11). The pin table says VDD is “5 V +/- 10 percent”. Page 13 maps each 8-bit colour value to a current from 0 mA (00) through 3 mA (40h) and 6 mA (80h) to 12 mA (FFh), about 0.047 mA per step.

Printed as T0H 0.3 us, T1H 0.9 us, T0L 0.9 us, T1L 0.3 us, each +/-0.05 us, reset above 200 us. The same table heading says “TH+TL = 1.25 us +/- 600 ns”, which does not match 0.3 + 0.9 = 1.2 us and whose tolerance is far wider than the +/-50 ns on the individual times; the individual times are recorded. Data is 24 bits, high bit first, in RGB order (page 13).

Clones & compatibility

“Compatible” is never stated bare here — each relationship carries how strong the claim is, and what bites if you assume too much.

  • electrically similar SK6805

Inferred from the numbers only; the Meihua sheet never names OPSCO or any other IC. Its T0H 300 / T0L 900 / T1H 900 / T1L 300 ns (+/-50 ns) match the typical values OPSCO prints for the SK6805-EC15 (T0H 300, T0L 900, T1H 900, T1L 300), and Meihua resets after 200 us like the SK6805 sheet. But the pin numbering differs (Meihua 1 GND, 2 DO, 3 VDD, 4 DI; SK6805-EC15 1 DIN, 2 VDD, 3 DOUT, 4 GND), colour order is RGB here where OPSCO's SK6805 sends GRB, and the +/-50 ns tolerances are tighter than OPSCO's windows. Not tested. source ↗

  • electrically similar of this Nationstar FC-RGBC4020 IC (unnamed)

Same typical timing (300 / 900 / 900 / 300 ns +/-50 ns) and reset above 200 us as the Meihua MHP1515 sheet; Nationstar sends GRB where Meihua says RGB. Neither sheet names an IC or says one is derived from the other.

Evidence, not a release date. A library commit proves the part existed by that date and says nothing about how long before.
