Datasheets disagree

The sources we hold state different values for the facts below. Rather than pick one quietly, both sides are listed with where each was read. Check the datasheet for the exact part number and revision you are buying. How this is shown.

PWM frequency

OPSCO’s SK6805 sheets give 1.0, 4 and 4.5 kHz depending on the package.

What each source says about pwm frequency
SourceSaysPage
sk6805-ec15-c2890035 1.0 kHz (EC15) 6
sk6805-ec10-c22394946 4 kHz (EC10) 6
sk6805-ec14-c2909055 4.5 kHz (EC14) 6

What we show. 1.0 kHz is shown. These may be different silicon revisions behind the same name; the part sheet for your package is the one to trust.

OPSCO’s 5 mA IC, used in the very small packages (1.1 to 4.2 mm) where a 12 mA die would be too bright and too hot. Previously the catalogue treated the SK6805-EC15 as an SK6812; the OPSCO naming table shows the digits are the current code, and the sheets show different drive current, viewing angle (160 degrees) and typical timing, so it is its own protocol.

Refresh & flicker

1.0 kHz PWM and 0.5 mA static current per the EC15 sheet; the larger packages quote 4-4.5 kHz.

Typical values from a min/typ/max table: T0H 200/300/400 ns, T0L 700/900 ns (no maximum), T1H 700/900 ns (no maximum), T1L 200/300 ns (no maximum), reset 200 us. Other SK6805 package sheets (MICRO-J, E-J, MINI-RVA) print different typicals - T0H 320, T0L at least 800 ns, T1H 650-750 ns - so the windows vary between package sheets and these EC-series figures should not be generalised to every SK6805 part.

Clones & compatibility

“Compatible” is never stated bare here — each relationship carries how strong the claim is, and what bites if you assume too much.

  • near clone SK6812

The 5 mA sibling of the SK6812: the same single-wire framing and 4-pin GRB order, but 5 mA per channel instead of 12 mA, so a given brightness value is much dimmer, and a typical T1H of 900 ns against the SK6812's 700 ns. The part-number digits encode the drive current (6805 = 5 mA, 6812 = 12 mA). Not interchangeable for brightness. source ↗

  • protocol compatible of this ABOC BB single-wire IC (RGB order)

Timing numbers only: T0H 300 / T0L 900 / T1H 900 / T1L 300 ns with windows 200-400 / 800- / 650-1000 / 200- and a 200 us reset are the numbers the sk6805 protocol records from the OPSCO EC-series sheets. The order differs (RGB here, GRB for SK6805), the drive is 12 mA (5 mA for SK6805) and the ABOC sheets never mention SK6805 or any other maker's IC.

  • protocol compatible of this Beking SID single-wire IC (5 mA class)

    The window table (T0H 0.2-0.4, T0L >=0.8, T1H 0.7-1.0, T1L >=0.2 us, reset 200 us, 5 mA class, GRB) is the min/typ/max shape of the OPSCO SK6805-EC sheets that the sk6805 protocol records; typical values 0.3 / 0.9 / 0.9 / 0.3 us. The Beking sheets never name SK6805.

  • protocol compatible of this Chongtian M2 / M3 single-wire IC (0.3 / 0.9 us)

Same typical bit timing (T0H 300, T0L 900, T1H 900, T1L 300 ns), 800 kbps, GRB order and a 200 us reset as the sk6805 protocol records for the OPSCO 5 mA parts, with a +/-50 ns tolerance instead of min/max windows. Chongtian never names SK6805 or any other maker; the M3 variant is also a 5 mA part, but the M2 variant drives 12 mA.

  • electrically similar of this Meihua MHP1515 IC (unnamed)

Inferred from the numbers only; the Meihua sheet never names OPSCO or any other IC. Its T0H 300 / T0L 900 / T1H 900 / T1L 300 ns (+/-50 ns) match the typical values OPSCO prints for the SK6805-EC15 (T0H 300, T0L 900, T1H 900, T1L 300), and Meihua resets after 200 us like the SK6805 sheet. But the pin numbering differs (Meihua 1 GND, 2 DO, 3 VDD, 4 DI; SK6805-EC15 1 DIN, 2 VDD, 3 DOUT, 4 GND), colour order is RGB here where OPSCO's SK6805 sends GRB, and the +/-50 ns tolerances are tighter than OPSCO's windows. Not tested.

  • electrically similar of this Nationstar FC-RGBC4020 IC (unnamed)

Inferred from the numbers only; the Nationstar sheet never names OPSCO. Its typical timing (300 / 900 / 900 / 300 ns) and 200 us reset equal the typical figures printed for SK6805-EC15; the tolerance is +/-50 ns where OPSCO prints a wider window, supply is 4-5.5 V, and the output is 12 mA (SK6805: 5 mA).

  • electrically similar of this TONYU 6805

Inferred from the part code and printed numbers only; the TONYU sheet never names OPSCO or SK6805. OPSCO's SK6805-EC15 sheet (T0H 200-400, T0L at least 700, T1H at least 700 ns, 0.5 mA static, 1 kHz PWM, 200 us reset) is close on bit timing, but TONYU resets after 80 us (not 200 us), PWM is 1.2 kHz and the quiescent current is 1 mA. The pad layout and pin numbering (1 DIN, 2 VDD, 3 DOUT, 4 GND) do match SK6805-EC15.

  • protocol compatible of this TX1812CXU

The typical timing (300 / 900 / 900 / 300 ns, 200 us reset) equals the OPSCO SK6805-EC15 sheet figures recorded on the sk6805 protocol, with the same 24-bit GRB framing. The numbers coincide; neither sheet claims compatibility, the drive current is 11.5 mA here against 5 mA, and the +-50 ns tolerance is narrower than the SK6805 windows. Not measured.
